SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
The Old Greenbelt Theatre is a one-screen, art deco structure built in 1938 in the heart of the city of Greenbelt, Maryland. Greenbelt is a federally planned community developed as part of the New Deal era. The city center, including the Old Greenbelt Theatre, was declared a National Historic District in 1997. The significance of this building to the local community, as well as architecturally, motivated the City of Greenbelt to select GTM Architects as the design firm to guide them through the process of restoring the iconic structure.
