SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The design of this house was centered on creating a contextually neighborhood appropriate front façade with a contemporary expansive private rear courtyard allowing the homeowners to escape the fast paced urban lifestyle of downtown Washington D.C. Located just a few minutes from downtown, the unique lot is backed by parkland on a traditional D.C. neighborhood. The architecture was designed to maximize the parkland exposure while providing a “protective” courtyard of privacy. The strategic L-shape opens to the undeveloped parkland views and creates a naturally serene outdoor and indoor experience.
