SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:

Race Pace wanted a facility that could be part of the Route 40 revitalization corridor that could house their growing business. The design team accomplished these goals through adaptive reuse of an existing prefabricated metal warehouse and office building. By collaborating with the owners, the design team developed the program and space requirements for the various areas. This facility needed to connect the repair shop to parts and bicycle storage, bike fitting area, and the retail spaces. To make this a successful retail use for today’s market, a 3,000SF pre-engineered addition was erected at the south end of the existing building. The north end of the building was previously used as a warehouse, while the south end was a small, two-story office with a 500SF retail counter. The addition increased the useable space to make all the areas work together, while also elevating the signage to be seen clearly from the street. Adding an enclosed 2-story mezzanine within the facility provided office space and created extra storage for bicycles.
