It was vital that our client be able to host non-profits for community engagement. This can occur in both the flexible cafe space, but also the outdoor amphitheater- underneath the shade structure.
Navigating the steep change in topography, our project offers a small gathering space and a prominent overlook- allowing for views of the volleyball matches, but also a pristine perspective of the cultural institutions dotting the Inner Harbor
The design precedent is two pieces: the pavilion is of the landscape and materializes from the landforms around it- much like a wave. The Shade Structure is like a bird- light and soaring, reacting to the wave but apart
