SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
10Eleven brings new vitality to a blighted corner in the Mount Vernon Square neighborhood, northeast of Downtown Washington, DC. Located at the intersection of 11th and M Streets, this new mixed-use project sits on a small infill site that was previously a parking lot. The building wraps an existing historic townhouse on the corner which is not part of the new development. The unique characteristics of the site provided an opportunity for 10Eleven to become an eye-catching focal point for the intersection. Located blocks from the DC Convention Center Metro Station, 10Eleven supports a multi-modal, urban lifestyle.
The building massing was broken down into two separate “buildings” to better respond to the existing corner historic building and context. Inspired by some of DC’s Best Addresses, the larger building contains the main residential entry and has a more traditional DC Neoclassical façade facing on M Street. The smaller building has a more modern façade with full glass bay windows and faces the more commercial 11th Street. The ground floor has continuous retail with outdoor seating contributing to a more active and vibrant streetscape.
