SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
Brooke Park Apartments is a 17 unit affordable apartment renovation of an existing multifamily building originally constructed ca 1950.
The project serves persons and families whose income is 60% of median income. And the project provides 2 accessible apartments. A bridge connects parking to the building and the accessible units.
Further social equity goals are met through convenient access to public transportation and nearby access to bicycle commuter trails. Shopping is a 5 minute walk with retail including a supermarket and pharmacy.
The project improved and reorganized living, dining and gathering space to create large, open common spaces for the residents and their guests. The building skin, structure and stairs were saved. Other systems were gutted with new kitchens, bathrooms, new finishes and high efficiency, energy saving mechanical, hot water, plumbing and lighting systems.
The project maintained the building original footprint and reorganized site parking and access without increasing impervious area. Site improvements include landscaping, bio-retention storm water management that also encourage local habitat for small wildlife. A large retaining wall was added to accommodate on site parking and building service.
