PROJECT SUMMARY
Rounding out a new student life neighborhood, Cunniffe Commons Dining Hall replaces an outdated option to further enhance the student experience. The building architecture references others on campus while forging its own identity with a statement roof form. The form of the building artfully accommodates the preservation of mature oak trees on the site which provides a more intimate, exterior courtyard for outdoor dining. This interior courtyard is framed by glazing on the building which helps to blur the lines between exterior and interior space.

Using a dispersed, micro-restaurant layout, the new dining commons offers a greater variety of food options. This allows for a better accommodation of dietary requirements, as well as a more sophistication in the food offered. Gathering and study spaces give the building uses beyond food service,and create a new sense of place that extends to the entire housing village and is further supported by an all-hours retail option.
