SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The transformation of the Jewish Museum of Maryland defines a new paradigm for the participatory museum - recasting the institution as adaptive cultural infrastructure rather than a static container of history. This design-forward shift dissolves traditional boundaries between exhibition, interpretation, and participation, positioning the museum as a responsive platform for narrative co-creation. By synthesizing material artifact with digital interface, it reframes the visitor as an active cultural agent within a decentralized system of storytelling. Rejecting the transactional typology of the 20th-century museum, this model embraces a spatial and conceptual framework grounded in exchange, and collective authorship—offering a compelling blueprint for the museum as a living cultural commons.
