PROJECT SUMMARY
Stronger. Faster. More focused. These words echo in Under Armour’s mission statement and brand story as a company obsessed with making athletes better. The Stadium at The House is both at the heart of their Baltimore HQ and a physical testament to the company’s mission.
The newest athletic training and competition facility Under Armour has opened, The Stadium at The House is a state-of-the-art space that features a multi-dimensional field ready for high school football, NCAA and high school soccer and lacrosse, and an eight-lane, 400-meter competition track along with seating for 1,400 fans. The facility is intentionally designed to provide a wide range of team sport opportunities and maximize multipurpose use of the field. The seating capacity is expanded through the landscape design – utilizing raised berms with views of the track and field to accommodate overflow seating and team gathering areas.
Day-to-day, Under Armour uses the venue to test its products in the pursuit of new levels of athlete performance. Infused with leading-edge technology, the facility can track and measure athletes' performance in real time. The venue is also just footsteps away from Under Armour’s product innovation labs, allowing their teams to seamlessly test, refine and empower the athletes it serves.
The Stadium was conceptualized as the heart of Under Armour’s new campus on the Baltimore Peninsula, positioning the company to better empower athletes and teams long into the future. Intentionally modest in size, it offers an intimate spectator and athlete experience.
The facility’s design echoes both Under Armour’s and Baltimore’s industrious history with exposed raw materials that exude grit and authenticity. The building façade takes visitors on a “journey” as a metaphor for the company’s incredible evolution to become a leader in athletic performance. Moving through the building’s layered façade, teammates, spectators and athletes alike take the journey to the track and field where ultimately boundaries are pushed and innovation happens.
Floating above the grandstands is a remarkably unique solar canopy that serves as an elegant visual icon, not only providing power for the facility but showcasing sustainable design practices: the facility is designed to meet IgCC criteria in keeping with the cities’ sustainability goals.
The Stadium At The House is an integral piece of Under Armour’s expanded campus on the Baltimore Peninsula, positioning them to better empower all athletes into the future.
