SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The architect was tasked with designing an addition to one of the most recognizable modern residential projects in the DC metro area, designed by a renowned local architect. The addition’s program includes a carport and garage, a moss garden, the conversion of an existing garage into a new dining room, and a separate lower-level artist’s studio and spa.
The garden is the nexus between the original house, the dining room, and the carport. The program was a reaction to the pandemic, addressing the client's need for exterior social gathering spaces.
JURY COMMENTS (If applicable)
“A masterful blend of architecture and landscape architecture. It is like this was always there. Amazing what a small addition can do to redefine and elevate the space and place.” –Jeffrey Huber
